Salary: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs? A welcoming school in Sheffield is seeking a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.
About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to students with social, emotional and mental health needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes. Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff, you will support students both in the classroom and through targeted interventions, encouraging engagement, confidence and emotional wellbeing.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs.

Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.

Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour and classroom engagement.

Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.

Help implement individual support strategies and behaviour plans.

Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with teaching and pastoral staff.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable.

A calm, patient and resilient approach.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

The ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.

A genuine commitment to supporting young people's wellbeing and education.

An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
