Salary Scale: £34,068 - £52,834 per annum (MPS/UPS – Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull branch are currently looking for a compassionate and committed Primary Teacher to work within a specialist educational setting in Scarborough. We are looking for an inspiring educator who has experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and who is committed to helping every learner reach their full potential.

As a Primary Teacher, you will deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of pupils with a range of additional needs. You will work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and pastoral staff to create a nurturing, structured, and inclusive learning environment where pupils feel safe, supported, and motivated to succeed.

Main Responsibilities as a Primary Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with SEN and SEMH.
  • Create a positive, nurturing, and structured classroom environment that promotes learning and emotional wellbeing.
  • Implement personalised learning strategies and behaviour support plans to maximise student engagement.
  • Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress, adapting teaching approaches where necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, parents, carers, and external professionals to achieve positive outcomes for pupils.
  • Promote positive behaviour, independence, confidence, and social development through consistent support and encouragement.

Primary Teacher Minimum Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching primary-aged pupils with SEN and SEMH needs within a specialist or mainstream setting.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills, with knowledge of positive behaviour support strategies.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine commitment to inclusive education and supporting vulnerable learners.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
