Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, helping them engage with learning and develop confidence both inside and outside the classroom. You will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to adapt activities, encourage independence and create positive learning experiences for every pupil.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with special educational needs.

  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities.

  • Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.

  • Support pupils with communication, emotional wellbeing and classroom engagement.

  • Adapt your approach to meet individual learning needs.

  • Monitor pupil progress and share observations with teaching staff where appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN is advantageous.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A patient, caring and adaptable approach.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • A genuine commitment to helping children achieve their potential.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
