Job Title: Sports Coach / Learning Support
Location: Rotherham
Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time
Start Date: September 2026

Are you ready to use your coaching skills to make a real difference in the classroom? A welcoming school in Rotherham is looking for a dedicated Sports Coach / Learning Support professional to join their team and support pupils with their learning and personal development.

About the Role:

This is a school-based classroom support role rather than a sports delivery position. As a Sports Coach / Learning Support professional, you will work alongside teachers to support pupils across lessons, providing classroom assistance, behaviour support, small group interventions and, where required, one-to-one support. Your background in sport will help you build positive relationships, encourage engagement and promote structure and resilience, but your main responsibility will be helping pupils access learning and succeed in school.

About the School:

This inclusive school is committed to providing a supportive learning environment where every pupil is encouraged to achieve their potential. Staff work collaboratively to ensure children receive the guidance, encouragement and individual support they need both academically and personally.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide classroom support across Primary or Secondary lessons as required.
  • Support pupils with behaviour, engagement and emotional wellbeing.
  • Deliver one-to-one and small group learning support where appropriate.
  • Assist with cover supervision when required by the school.
  • Help create a calm, safe and structured learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to meet individual pupil needs.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
  • A background in sport, coaching or fitness with transferable skills such as behaviour management, motivation, resilience and teamwork.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, adaptable and positive approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience within education, youth work or SEN settings is advantageous.
