Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support to access learning successfully. You will provide one-to-one and small group support, encourage positive relationships, and help pupils develop confidence, resilience and strategies to manage challenges within the school environment. Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.

Encourage positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day.

Work alongside teachers to adapt learning activities where appropriate.

Build trusting relationships that help pupils engage with their learning.

Support pupils during lessons, transitions and social times.

Record observations and communicate pupil progress with the wider school team.
Requirements:
-
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or additional needs is desirable.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

A calm, patient and resilient approach to supporting pupils.

Ability to remain positive in challenging situations.

A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.

Experience within education, care or youth work is advantageous.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
