SEMH Primary Teacher
Location: Ashford, Kent
Salary: £130 - £260 per day (depending on experience and pay scale)
Start date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, Temp to Perm

GSL Education Kent is currently recruiting for a dedicated SEMH Primary Teacher to join a specialist SEMH school in Ashford from September 2026. This is a full-time, temp-to-perm opportunity, ideal for an experienced SEMH Primary Teacher or an enthusiastic teacher looking to transition into specialist education.
The school provides a safe, structured, and therapeutic learning environment for pupils whose social, emotional, and mental health needs have impacted their education. With small class sizes, a strong pastoral ethos, and a collaborative multidisciplinary team, the school is committed to helping every child achieve both academically and personally.
The successful SEMH Primary Teacher will plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils while promoting emotional wellbeing, resilience, and positive behaviour. You will work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and pastoral staff to ensure every child receives the support they need to succeed.
The ideal SEMH Primary Teacher will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching within a primary setting, with SEMH or SEND experience being highly desirable
- A strong understanding of trauma-informed and nurturing approaches to learning
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
- The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who require additional emotional support
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach to teaching
