Salary Scale: £92 – £110 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to work across a range of inclusive and supportive secondary schools in York. We are looking for a caring, adaptable, and enthusiastic support professional who is passionate about helping students with Special Educational Needs access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.
SEN Teaching Assistant Role:
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will provide tailored support to students with a variety of additional learning needs, working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment. We are looking to recruit an SEN Teaching Assistant who can build positive relationships with young people, promote independence, and provide effective support both in and out of the classroom.
SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with Special Educational Needs
- Assist teachers in adapting lessons and learning resources to meet individual student needs
- Support students with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and SEMH needs where appropriate
- Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and active participation in learning
- Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with teaching and pastoral staff
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support positive educational outcomes
SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND in an educational or care setting is desirable
- Knowledge of a range of Special Educational Needs and inclusive support strategies
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students with additional needs
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
