Job Title: Sports Coach
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: £460 - £650 per week (Depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are recruiting Sports Coach for thriving school in Sheffield. We are seeking motivated individuals from sports, coaching, fitness, or youth-work backgrounds who can transfer their communication, leadership, and behaviour-management skills into a school-based support role.
Your sporting background will be highly valued, a significant part of the role will involve supporting teaching and learning, helping pupils remain engaged, managing behaviour, and assisting individuals or small groups during lessons. You may also lead structured physical activities and use sport to develop pupils’ confidence, teamwork, and resilience.
Responsibilities of Sports Coach:
- Support teachers and pupils during classroom-based learning activities
- Provide individual and small-group assistance where additional help is required
- Use coaching techniques to encourage focus, participation, and positive behaviour
- Lead suitable sports and physical activities when requested
- Assist pupils with Special Educational Needs where appropriate
- Carry out cover supervision during staff absence when required
- Help maintain calm, structured, and inclusive learning environments
Requirements for Sports Coach:
- Experience in sports coaching, fitness instruction, youth work, or a similar role
- Confidence working with children or young people in classroom and activity settings
- Strong communication, motivation, and behaviour-management skills
- Patient, resilient, adaptable, and proactive approach
- Genuine interest in supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing, and development
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years
- Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education
