Job Title: Behaviour Support
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are partnering with welcoming schools to appoint Behaviour Support in Barnsley. We are seeking calm, resilient, and proactive individuals who can encourage positive behaviour, build strong relationships with pupils, and help create an environment where every learner can succeed.

The Behaviour Support will focus on promoting positive behaviour, improving engagement, and helping pupils overcome barriers that may affect their learning and personal development.

Behaviour Support Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils requiring behavioural guidance
  • Encourage positive choices through consistent and supportive interventions
  • Work alongside teaching staff to implement behaviour support strategies
  • Help pupils remain engaged and focused during lessons and school activities
  • Monitor behavioural progress and share updates with the wider school team
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment

Behaviour Support Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with behavioural needs in a school or similar setting
  • Understanding of positive behaviour management approaches
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach when responding to challenging situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build positive working relationships
  • Commitment to promoting inclusion, wellbeing, and pupil success
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
