Job Title: Sports Coach / Learning Support

Salary: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Do you have a background in sports or coaching and want to use your skills to support young people in the classroom? A welcoming school in Sheffield is looking for a dedicated Sports Coach / Learning Support professional to join their team this September.
About the Role:
This is a school-based classroom support role, not a sports coaching position. You will work alongside teachers to support pupils in lessons, provide behaviour and learning support, assist with small group and one-to-one interventions, and help create a positive learning environment. Your experience in sport or coaching will be valued for the transferable skills it brings, including communication, resilience, motivation and behaviour management.

Responsibilities:

Support pupils in the classroom to help them remain engaged in learning.

Assist with behaviour management and encourage positive attitudes.

Provide one-to-one and small group learning support where required.

Support teachers with classroom activities and lesson organisation.

Assist with cover supervision when appropriate.

Build positive relationships with pupils and contribute to a safe and structured learning environment.
Requirements:

A background in sports, coaching or fitness with transferable skills suited to education.

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

A calm, patient and resilient approach.

The ability to work effectively as part of a school team.

A genuine passion for supporting young people's learning and wellbeing.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
