SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT

Location: Tower Hamlets
Salary: £100 - £120 per day
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Long Term

GSL Education London Branch is looking for an experienced SEN TA to join a welcoming secondary comprehensive school and sixth form for girls in Tower Hamlets. This is a fantastic long-term opportunity for a caring, dedicated, and proactive SEN TA who is passionate about supporting students with special educational needs to achieve their full potential.

As an SEN TA, you will work closely with teachers and the SEN department to provide high-quality support both inside and outside the classroom. The successful SEN TA will play an important role in helping students access learning, develop confidence, and make positive progress in a supportive school environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with special educational needs.
  • Support students in lessons to help them access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
  • Carry out general Teaching Assistant (TA) duties across different subjects and year groups.
  • Provide intimate care when required, ensuring students are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility needs where necessary.
  • Use positive behaviour management strategies to encourage engagement and independence.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to support individual learning plans.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
  • Support students during break times, educational activities, and school events when required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant in a secondary school setting.
  • Must hold a valid Manual Handling Certificate.
  • Must be confident in carrying out general Teaching Assistant (TA) duties and providing intimate care when required.
  • Experience supporting students with a range of special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Patient, caring, reliable, and committed to supporting young people.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A flexible and professional approach to work.
