Salary Scale: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum (MPS/UPS)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Teacher of Design and Technology to work across a range of forward-thinking and supportive secondary schools in York. We are looking for a passionate, skilled, and dedicated educator who can deliver engaging practical and theoretical lessons while encouraging creativity, innovation, and technical excellence.
Teacher of Design and Technology Role:
The successful Teacher of Design and Technology will deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, enabling students to develop practical skills, creative thinking, and an understanding of the design process. We are looking to recruit a Teacher of Design and Technology who can inspire learners of all abilities and create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating workshop environment where students can thrive.
Teacher of Design and Technology Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging Design and Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Teach practical and theoretical aspects of Design and Technology in line with the curriculum
- Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback to support achievement
- Ensure the safe use of tools, equipment, and workshop facilities while promoting health and safety standards
- Differentiate learning to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to promote high standards of teaching, learning, and student success
Teacher of Design and Technology Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
- Experience teaching Design and Technology within a secondary school setting
- Strong subject knowledge and confidence delivering both practical and theory-based lessons
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and organisational skills
- A passion for creative, technical, and vocational education with a commitment to student achievement
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
