Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Do you have the confidence to manage a classroom and keep pupils engaged in their learning? A welcoming school in Barnsley is looking for a reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team from September 2026.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring pre-set work is delivered effectively and pupils remain focused and on task. You'll manage behaviour, answer pupils' questions and maintain a positive learning atmosphere across a range of subjects and year groups. Responsibilities:
- Supervise classes and deliver pre-set work in the absence of the class teacher.
- Manage pupil behaviour and maintain a calm, productive classroom.
- Take attendance and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Respond to pupils' questions and provide general guidance on tasks.
- Liaise with teaching staff to understand lesson plans and expectations.
- Report any concerns or incidents to relevant staff promptly.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a classroom or supervisory setting is desirable.
- Confident classroom management and behaviour management skills.
- Strong communication skills and a clear, authoritative manner.
- Ability to adapt quickly across different subjects and year groups.
- A calm, professional approach under pressure.
- A genuine interest in supporting pupils' education.
To work with GSL Education as a Cover Supervisor, you should:
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.
- Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
