Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Doncaster
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time
Start Date: September 2026

Are you patient, encouraging and keen to help pupils reach their full potential? A welcoming school in Doncaster is looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

About the Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who need extra guidance to access the curriculum, offering tailored support in and outside the classroom. You'll collaborate with class teachers and the wider support team to help build pupils' confidence, independence and enjoyment of learning. Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and small group support to pupils with additional learning needs.
  • Assist class teachers in preparing and adapting learning materials.
  • Support pupils' social, emotional and academic development.
  • Help implement strategies outlined in pupils' individual education plans.
  • Encourage independence and build pupils' self-esteem.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and liaise with staff as needed.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, either in a school or similar setting, is desirable.
  • A patient, adaptable and encouraging approach.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with pupils.
  • Confidence working both independently and as part of a team.
  • A genuine interest in supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Relevant qualifications or SEN experience are advantageous but not essential.

To work with GSL Education as a Learning Support Assistant, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.
  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
