Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Salary Scale: £92 – £110 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull branch are currently hiring compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistants to work in secondary schools and specialist educational settings across York and the surrounding areas. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to students with a range of special educational needs, helping them access learning, develop independence, and build confidence in a safe and inclusive environment. Working closely with teachers and SEND professionals, you will play a key role in supporting students' academic, social, and emotional development.
Main Responsibilities as an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs and learning styles.
- Support students in developing confidence, independence, and positive social skills.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and SEND staff to implement individual support plans and interventions.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff to support learning and development.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment while encouraging positive behaviour.
SEN Teaching Assistant Minimum Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN or additional learning needs is desirable.
- A good understanding of a range of special educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, or SEMH, is advantageous.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting learners.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
