Learning Support Assistant (SEMH)
Location: Leigh-on-Sea
Salary: £93- £120 per day (Depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time

Do you thrive on building positive relationships and helping young people overcome barriers to learning? GSL Education are seeking dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to join a specialist SEMH school in Leigh-on-Sea.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom. Working alongside teachers, pastoral teams and SEN professionals, you will help create a calm, structured and nurturing environment where students can build confidence, regulate their emotions and achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with SEMH, Autism, ADHD and additional learning needs on a 1:1 and small group basis.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement and emotional wellbeing.
- Support the delivery of personalised learning and intervention programmes.
- Use trauma-informed, restorative and de-escalation strategies to manage behaviour positively.
- Promote emotional regulation, resilience and independence.
- Assist with behaviour support plans and EHCP outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams to provide holistic support.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour is desirable.
- Calm, patient and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
