Job Title: Sports Coach
Location: Barnsley
Pay: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking Sports Coach for schools in Barnsley. We are looking for energetic and committed individuals who can promote physical activity, encourage teamwork, and use sport as a positive tool to engage and motivate pupils.
The Sports Coach role provides an excellent opportunity to support pupils' physical, social, and emotional development while encouraging confidence, resilience, and a positive attitude towards learning.
Sports Coach Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging sports sessions that promote participation and physical wellbeing
- Encourage teamwork, resilience, and positive behaviour through structured activities
- Adapt coaching sessions to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities
- Support teachers in maintaining pupil engagement throughout the school day
- Promote healthy lifestyles and active participation in school life
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment
Sports Coach Requirements:
- Experience in sports coaching or physical activity leadership in a school setting
- Ability to motivate and engage children and young people through sport
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Positive, proactive, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils
- Commitment to promoting wellbeing, participation, and personal development
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
