Job Title: Attendance Officer
Location: Sheffield
Pay: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

Could you help improve pupil attendance by building positive relationships with families and school staff?

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking Attendance Officer for amazing schools in Sheffield. We are looking for organised and proactive individuals who can monitor attendance, support pupils and families, and work closely with school staff to encourage regular attendance and punctuality.

The Attendance Officer is going to play a key part in improving pupil engagement, promoting positive attendance habits, and supporting overall educational achievement.

Attendance Officer Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily pupil attendance and maintain accurate attendance records
  • Follow up on absences and lateness in line with school procedures
  • Communicate with parents, carers, and external agencies where appropriate
  • Produce attendance reports and identify trends requiring intervention
  • Work closely with school staff to support attendance improvement strategies
  • Promote a positive culture of regular attendance and punctuality

Attendance Officer Requirements:

  • Experience working in a school setting or within an administrative support role
  • Good understanding of attendance procedures and safeguarding responsibilities
  • Strong organisational, communication, and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
  • Professional, reliable, and able to manage confidential information appropriately
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
