GSL Education are currently recruiting for a creative, dedicated, and enthusiastic English Teacher to work across secondary schools in Scarborough and the surrounding areas.

About the Role:

As an English Teacher, you will teach English Language and Literature across Key Stages 3 and 4, creating engaging lessons that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and a love of reading. You will foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where every student is challenged to achieve their best.

Core Responsibilities of the English Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English Language and Literature lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities
  • Assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback
  • Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and promote a positive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance student achievement and curriculum delivery

As the Ideal English Teacher, You Should Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting
  • Strong subject knowledge of English Language and Literature
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Ability to inspire, engage, and motivate students of all abilities
  • A proactive, organised, and collaborative approach to teaching and learning

To Work with GSL Education, You Must:

  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
  • Have recent experience teaching within an educational setting
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
