Resource Preparation: Adapt learning materials (e.g., visual timetables, now-and-next boards, and sensory tools) to make the curriculum accessible and engaging.
-
Social & Emotional Growth: Run small-group interventions to promote social inclusion, communication, and peer interaction.
-
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with class teachers, parents, and external specialists (Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists) to track and feedback on pupil progress.
What We Are Looking For (Requirements)
-
Experience: Proven experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (specifically ASD, ADHD, or SEMH) within a primary school or similar youth setting.
-
Qualifications: Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is highly desirable, but graduates or individuals with strong relevant experience (e.g., care, psychology) are encouraged to apply.
-
Attributes: A calm, patient, and highly resilient nature with a genuine passion for inclusive education.
-
Specialist Skills: Knowledge of alternative communication tools (e.g., PECS, Makaton) or training in positive handling/de-escalation (e.g., Team-Teach) is a distinct advantage.
-
Safeguarding: Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS check registered on the Update Service.
Benefits of the Role
-
Competitive daily rates paid weekly via a secure umbrella or PAYE service.
-
A dedicated, supportive school leadership team committed to staff well-being.

Free continuous professional development (CPD) courses, including specific training modules on Autism and ADHD awareness.
-
Excellent transport links across South Manchester (accessible via the Metrolink and M56).
