GSL Education are currently recruiting for a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and supportive Maths Tutor to work across secondary schools and educational settings in York and the surrounding areas.

Whether you are an experienced tutor, qualified teacher, or Mathematics graduate with relevant experience, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference to learners requiring additional support.

About the Role:

As a Maths Tutor, you will provide targeted one-to-one and small-group tuition, helping students develop a strong understanding of mathematical concepts and improve their confidence. You will tailor your teaching to meet individual learning needs, supporting learners as they work towards achieving their full potential.

Key Responsibilities of the Maths Tutor:

  • Deliver engaging one-to-one and small-group Mathematics tuition sessions
  • Plan and adapt learning activities to suit individual student needs and abilities
  • Support learners in developing confidence, numeracy, and problem-solving skills
  • Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage improvement
  • Prepare students for classroom assessments and external examinations
  • Work collaboratively with school staff to support positive learner outcomes

As the Ideal Maths Tutor, You Should Have:

  • A degree in Mathematics or a related subject, or relevant tutoring experience
  • Strong knowledge of the KS3 and KS4 Mathematics curriculum
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate, engage, and support learners of varying abilities
  • A patient, organised, and adaptable approach to teaching and learning
  • A genuine passion for helping young people succeed academically

To Work with GSL Education, You Must:

  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
  • Have recent experience working within an educational setting
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
