Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Full-time, Term Time only
Start Date: September 2026
Salary Scale: £25 – £35 per hour (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently hiring a Tutor to work across a range of supportive and forward-thinking secondary schools in Scarborough. We are looking for a dedicated, adaptable, and encouraging education professional who is passionate about delivering personalised learning and helping students build confidence in their studies.
Tutor Role:
The successful Tutor will provide targeted academic support through one-to-one and small group sessions, helping students strengthen their understanding of key subjects and overcome barriers to learning. We are looking to recruit a Tutor who can adapt their teaching approach to meet individual learning needs while fostering confidence, resilience, and a positive attitude towards education.
Tutor Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging one-to-one and small group tuition sessions across a range of subjects
- Assess students' learning needs and plan tailored support to improve academic progress
- Monitor and record student achievement, providing constructive feedback and encouragement
- Support students in developing effective study skills, confidence, and independent learning habits
- Create a positive, inclusive, and motivating learning environment that promotes engagement
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and school staff to support student outcomes
Tutor Requirements:
- Experience tutoring or teaching children or young people in an educational setting is desirable
- Strong subject knowledge and the ability to adapt teaching to different learning styles
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- A patient, encouraging, and flexible approach to supporting students' academic development
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
