Job Title: Teacher of Music

Contract: Temporary, Full Time, Part-Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum (MPS/UPS)

GSL Education Hull branch are currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Teachers of Music to work in secondary schools across Scarborough and the surrounding areas. Whether you are looking for day-to-day supply, long-term placements, or a permanent role, we can help you find an opportunity that matches your experience, availability, and career aspirations.
As a Teacher of Music, you will deliver engaging and inspiring lessons that develop students' practical performance, composition, and listening skills. You will create an inclusive learning environment where students of all abilities are encouraged to express themselves creatively and develop their confidence through music.
Main Responsibilities as a Teacher of Music:
- Plan and deliver engaging Music lessons in line with the national curriculum and examination specifications.
- Teach practical and theoretical aspects of music, including performance, composition, and music appreciation.
- Encourage students to develop creativity, confidence, and a passion for music through engaging learning experiences.
- Assess, monitor, and provide constructive feedback to support student progress and achievement.
- Maintain a positive classroom environment with high expectations for behaviour and participation.
- Support extracurricular music activities, including rehearsals, performances, concerts, or school productions where appropriate.
Teacher of Music Minimum Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching Music within a secondary school setting.
- Strong subject knowledge and the ability to teach both practical and theoretical elements of Music.
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and organisational skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
