Salary Scale: £102 – £120 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a confident, adaptable, and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to work across secondary schools in York and the surrounding areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced teaching assistants, or individuals looking to gain valuable classroom experience before pursuing a career in education. You will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning by supervising classes and ensuring students remain focused and engaged.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise pre-planned lessons during the short-term absence of teaching staff. You will manage classroom behaviour, provide clear instructions, and support students in completing the work set, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.
Core Responsibilities of the Cover Supervisor:
- Supervise classes using pre-prepared lesson materials provided by teaching staff
- Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment
- Ensure students remain engaged and complete the work set during lessons
- Provide guidance and respond to general student queries where appropriate
- Record attendance and report lesson outcomes to teaching staff
- Follow school policies, including safeguarding and behaviour procedures
As the Ideal Cover Supervisor, You Should Have:
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational, coaching, mentoring, or similar setting
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Confidence leading groups of students in a classroom environment
- A calm, flexible, and professional approach to managing different situations
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to adapt quickly
- A genuine interest in education and supporting young people's development
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
- Have recent experience working with children or young people
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
