Job Title: SEMH Teacher
Location: Sheffield
Pay: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire branch are seeking SEMH Teachers for welcoming schools in Sheffield. We are looking for compassionate and resilient educators who can create a supportive learning environment, deliver engaging lessons, and help pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs reach their full potential.
The Social, Emotional and Mental health needs Teacher will have a rewarding opportunity to positively influence pupils' academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and personal development through tailored teaching and consistent support.
SEMH Teacher Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with SEMH
- Foster a calm, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
- Implement behaviour support strategies to promote positive learning outcomes
- Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching approaches where required
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral staff, and families to support pupil development
- Promote safeguarding, emotional wellbeing, and positive relationships throughout the school day
SEMH Teacher Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential
- Previous experience teaching pupils with SEMH needs is desirable
- Strong understanding of behaviour management and inclusive teaching strategies
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils who require additional support
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and organisational skills
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
