Job Title: Advance Teaching Assistant

Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time, Full-Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026
Salary Scale: £102 – £120 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull branch are currently seeking proactive and enthusiastic Advanced Teaching Assistants to work in secondary schools across Selby and the surrounding areas. As an Advanced Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning, working closely with teachers to deliver targeted interventions and provide additional support for students with a range of learning needs. You will help create an inclusive learning environment where every student is encouraged to achieve their full potential.
Main Responsibilities as an Advanced Teaching Assistant:
- Provide high-quality classroom support and deliver targeted interventions for individuals and small groups.
- Support students with SEND, additional learning needs, or barriers to learning to ensure they can access the curriculum effectively.
- Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom organisation, and the delivery of engaging learning activities.
- Promote positive behaviour, independence, and confidence through effective support strategies.
- Monitor student progress and provide accurate feedback to teaching staff to support learning outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and parents or carers to promote student wellbeing and achievement.
Advanced Teaching Assistant Minimum Requirements:
- A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or significant experience working in a Teaching Assistant role within a secondary school.
- Experience supporting students with SEND or additional learning needs is desirable.
- Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
- A proactive, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting young people.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
