Salary: £90 - £120 per day (depending on experience)

Are you a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking to make a meaningful difference in the classroom?

GSL Education Newcastle are seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Yarm, supporting students and teachers to create a positive and engaging learning environment.

As a Teaching Assistant (TA), you will work closely with class teachers to support students' academic, social, and emotional development. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to provide one-to-one and small group support, helping pupils overcome barriers to learning while encouraging confidence, independence, and achievement.

Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant:

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students who require additional assistance.
  • Assist pupils with classroom activities, learning tasks, and educational resources.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage active participation in lessons.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Support students with varying learning needs, including those with SEND where appropriate.
  • Prepare classroom materials and assist with lesson organisation.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student development.

Requirements of a Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in a school or similar setting is desirable.
  • CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or an equivalent qualification is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting learning.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A genuine passion for helping children achieve their full potential.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
