Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Secondary)
Location: Doncaster
Salary: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time
Start Date: September 2026

Are you passionate about supporting secondary students and helping them succeed both academically and personally? A welcoming secondary school in Doncaster is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team from September.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, working alongside subject teachers in a variety of departments. No two days will be the same as you move between lessons, providing targeted support to individuals and small groups, helping students stay engaged with learning and encouraging positive behaviour. You will play an important part in promoting students' confidence, independence and readiness for learning, including supporting those preparing for GCSE studies where appropriate.

Responsibilities:

  • Support students across Key Stages 3 and 4 in a range of curriculum subjects.

  • Work alongside subject teachers to deliver engaging and well-structured lessons.

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to reinforce learning and build confidence.

  • Encourage positive behaviour and support students in developing independence and resilience.

  • Assist students during lesson transitions and throughout the school day where required.

  • Monitor student engagement and share relevant observations with teaching staff.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A calm, patient and adaptable approach.

  • Confidence working with secondary-aged students in a classroom environment.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.

  • Experience in education or supporting young people is advantageous.

  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
