GSL Education are currently hiring a Teaching Assistant to work across a range of supportive and inclusive secondary schools in Selby. We are looking for a dedicated, adaptable, and compassionate support professional who is committed to helping students reach their full potential while contributing to a positive and engaging learning environment.

Teaching Assistant Role:

The successful Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers to provide classroom support, deliver targeted interventions, and encourage students to engage confidently with their learning. We are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant who can build positive relationships with young people, support learners with a variety of needs, and work effectively as part of a collaborative school team.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging lessons and effective classroom activities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students who require additional guidance
  • Assist in preparing learning resources and maintaining an organised classroom environment
  • Encourage positive behaviour, participation, and independence in learning
  • Support students with SEND or additional learning needs where appropriate
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff to promote student progress and wellbeing

Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational or support setting is highly desirable
  • A genuine passion for supporting students and helping them achieve their potential
  • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, flexible, and proactive approach to supporting learning and behaviour
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
