Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary: £92 – £110 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a compassionate, motivated, and dedicated Learning Mentor to work across secondary schools in Scarborough and the surrounding areas.

This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people. As a Learning Mentor, you will provide tailored support to students who may require additional guidance with their academic progress, attendance, behaviour, or emotional wellbeing, helping them to engage positively with education.

About the Role:

As a Learning Mentor, you will work closely with students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, providing encouragement and practical support to help them overcome challenges and succeed in school. You will collaborate with teachers, pastoral teams, and families to promote positive outcomes and create an environment where every learner feels valued and supported.

As a Learning Mentor, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring to support students' personal and academic development
  • Help learners overcome barriers to learning and improve engagement, attendance, and confidence
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage resilience, independence, and self-belief
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff to implement support strategies
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of interventions and outcomes
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

As the Ideal Learning Mentor, you should have:

  • Experience working with children or young people in education, mentoring, youth work, coaching, or care settings
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting learners
  • Ability to build positive relationships and motivate young people
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to adapt to different situations
  • A genuine commitment to supporting student wellbeing and achievement

To Work with GSL Education, you must:

  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
  • Have recent experience working with children or young people
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
