Job Title: PE Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Pay: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire branch are partnering with active schools in Barnsley to appoint Physical Education Teacher. We are seeking an enthusiastic educator who can deliver engaging PE lessons, inspire active participation, and encourage students to develop confidence, resilience, and a lifelong appreciation for physical activity.

The PE Teacher role offers a rewarding opportunity to help students achieve their sporting potential while supporting their physical, social, and emotional development.

PE Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Physical Education lessons
  • Encourage participation in a wide range of sports and physical activities
  • Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, resilience, and healthy lifestyles
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support development
  • Organise and supervise extracurricular sports activities and school competitions where required
  • Maintain a safe learning environment by following health and safety procedures

PE Teacher Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
  • Previous experience teaching Physical Education within a school
  • Strong knowledge of the PE curriculum and a variety of sporting activities
  • Ability to motivate students of all abilities to participate and achieve
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organisational skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
