Job Title: Geography Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Pay: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire branch are working with welcoming schools in Barnsley to appoint Geography Teacher. We would like to hear from knowledgeable and enthusiastic educators who can deliver engaging lessons, inspire curiosity about the natural and human world, and encourage students to think critically about global issues.

The Geography Teacher will develop students' geographical knowledge, analytical skills, and understanding of the world through engaging and meaningful learning experiences.

Geography Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Geography lessons in line with the National Curriculum
  • Encourage students to develop geographical knowledge, enquiry, and fieldwork skills
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support achievement
  • Create an inclusive classroom that promotes curiosity, discussion, and independent learning
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to curriculum planning and student success

Geography Teacher Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
  • Previous experience teaching Geography
  • Strong subject knowledge and understanding of effective teaching strategies
  • Ability to inspire students through creative and engaging lessons
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organisational skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
