Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Barnsley
Pay: £460–£650 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire branch are partnering with schools in Barnsley to recruit a Cover Supervisor (CS). We are looking for a confident and adaptable person who can supervise pre-planned lessons, maintain positive behaviour, and ensure pupils remain focused in the teacher's absence.
The Cover Supervisor will have the chance to gain classroom experience while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of lessons across a variety of subjects.
Responsibilities of CS:
- Supervise pre-planned lessons and ensure pupils remain engaged throughout the day
- Maintain positive classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Support pupils in completing the work set by teaching staff
- Record attendance and provide feedback on lesson outcomes where required
- Build positive relationships with pupils and members of the school community
- Help create a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment
Cover Supervisor Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable
- Confident managing groups of pupils within a classroom setting
- Strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
- Flexible, reliable, and able to adapt to different school environments
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting positive educational outcomes
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
