Job Title: Sports Coach
Location: Barnsley
Pay: £460–£650 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire branch are inviting applications for Sports Coach to work with amazing schools in Barnsley. We are seeking a motivated and proactive individual who can deliver engaging physical activities, encourage active participation, and help pupils develop both inside and outside the classroom.

This role offers a fantastic prospect to use your coaching experience to support pupils' physical development, wellbeing, and personal growth in an educational setting.

Sports Coach Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging sports sessions that encourage participation and skill development
  • Promote teamwork, resilience, and self-confidence through physical activities
  • Adapt coaching sessions to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities
  • Support teachers in maintaining positive behaviour and student engagement
  • Encourage healthy lifestyles and positive attitudes towards physical activity
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Sports Coach Requirements:

  • Previous experience in sports coaching, fitness instruction, or a related role is desirable
  • Ability to engage and motivate children and young people through practical activities
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Positive, adaptable, and enthusiastic approach to supporting pupils
  • Commitment to promoting participation, wellbeing, and personal development
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
