Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Barnsley
Pay: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire branch are recruiting Teaching Assistant (TA) for welcoming schools in Barnsley. We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic person who can work closely with teachers, provide effective classroom support, and help create a positive environment where every pupil can thrive.
The TA will have an excellent chance to support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development while gaining valuable experience within a rewarding educational setting.
Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and classroom activities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support tailored to pupils' learning needs
- Encourage positive behaviour and active participation throughout the school day
- Prepare learning resources and help maintain an organised classroom
- Monitor pupil progress and share observations with teaching staff
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people is desirable
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and school staff
- Patient, flexible, and committed to supporting individual learning needs
- Genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
