Job Title: Attendance Officer
Location: Sheffield
Pay: £460–£600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire branch are recruiting Attendance Officers for well-established schools in Sheffield. We are looking for organised and proactive professionals who can work closely with pupils, families, and school staff to promote excellent attendance and remove barriers to regular school participation.

The Attendance Officer role provides an opportunity to make a positive impact by helping pupils develop consistent attendance habits that support their academic achievement and overall wellbeing.

Attendance Officer Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily attendance records and identify patterns of absence or lateness
  • Follow up with parents and carers regarding pupil attendance concerns
  • Work alongside pastoral teams to implement attendance improvement strategies
  • Maintain accurate attendance data and prepare reports when required
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and families to encourage regular school attendance
  • Ensure attendance procedures comply with school policies and safeguarding requirements

Attendance Officer Requirements:

  • Previous experience in an attendance, pastoral, administrative, or educational support role is desirable
  • Good understanding of school attendance procedures and safeguarding practices
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build positive relationships with families and staff
  • Professional, reliable, and able to handle sensitive information confidentially
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
