Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Sheffield
Pay: £460–£650 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term
Are you confident leading a classroom and keeping students engaged in the absence of the class teacher?
GSL Education South Yorkshire branch are seeking Cover Supervisor (CS) to join amazing schools in Sheffield. We are looking for an organised and adaptable individual who can confidently supervise pre-planned lessons, maintain positive behaviour, and ensure students remain focused on their learning.
The CS will have an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience while supporting schools with the smooth delivery of lessons across a variety of subjects.
Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Supervise pre-planned lessons and ensure students remain engaged throughout the school day
- Maintain positive classroom behaviour in accordance with school policies
- Support students in completing the work set by teaching staff
- Record attendance and provide feedback on lesson progress where required
- Build positive relationships with students and members of the school community
- Promote a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment
Cover Supervisor Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable
- Confident managing groups of students in a classroom environment
- Strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
- Flexible, reliable, and able to adapt to different school settings
- Commitment to safeguarding and supporting positive educational outcomes
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
