Autism Support Worker
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: £92 – £110 per day

GSL Education is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Autism Support Worker to join a specialist education setting in Scarborough on a full-time basis from September 2026.
This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with Autism (ASC) and a range of additional learning and communication needs. You'll work alongside a dedicated team to help pupils develop confidence, independence and essential life skills within a structured, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
As an Autism Support Worker, you will:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Autism and additional learning needs.
- Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, sensory needs and social interaction.
- Help implement personalised learning and behaviour support strategies.
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement throughout the school day.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other professionals to meet pupils' individual needs.
- Promote a calm, safe and inclusive environment where every pupil feels valued and supported.
- Support with personal care where required.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children or young people with Autism, SEND or additional needs in education, care or support settings.
- Has a patient, compassionate and resilient approach.
- Understands the importance of routine, structure and positive behaviour support.
- Can build trusting relationships and communicate effectively with pupils, colleagues and families.
- Is committed to helping every child achieve their individual goals.
- Holds an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
