Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary Scale: £92 – £110 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently hiring a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to work across a range of supportive and inclusive secondary schools in York. We are looking for a dedicated, proactive, and compassionate support professional who is passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and personally.
Level 2 Teaching Assistant Role:
The successful Level 2 Teaching Assistant will work alongside teachers and support staff to deliver effective classroom support and targeted interventions for individual students and small groups. We are looking to recruit a Level 2 Teaching Assistant who can build positive relationships with young people, promote engagement in learning, and contribute to an inclusive and supportive school environment.
Level 2 Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Support teachers in delivering engaging lessons and effective classroom activities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students requiring additional assistance
- Assist in preparing learning resources and maintaining an organised classroom environment
- Encourage positive behaviour, participation, and confidence in learning
- Support students with SEND or additional learning needs where required
- Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff to promote student progress and wellbeing
Level 2 Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience in an educational setting is desirable
- Experience supporting children or young people within a school environment
- Good communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- A patient, adaptable, and positive approach to supporting students' learning and development
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
