Teaching Assistant – SEN School – Witham | Education and Training | Full-Time

GSL Education are seeking enthusiastic Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), SEN Teaching Assistants, and School Support Workers to join a welcoming SEN school in Witham. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN), and other complex learning needs.

You will work alongside experienced teachers, Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, and therapists to help pupils access learning, develop confidence, improve communication, and achieve their full academic and personal potential.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with additional needs. You will work closely with Teachers, SENCOs, Therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver personalised support strategies that enable every pupil to engage in learning and achieve their individual EHCP outcomes.

Position: Teaching Assistant (1:1 / Small Group)
Location: Witham
Salary Scale: £92.59–£120 per day
Contract Type: Full-time

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Special Educational Needs
  • Support pupils with Autism (ASC), SEMH, ADHD, communication needs, and complex learning difficulties
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets
  • Work collaboratively with Teachers, SENCOs, Therapists, and pastoral teams
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, independence, and engagement
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the wider school team
  • Support pupils during lessons, transitions, break times, and enrichment activities
  • Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive SEN learning environment

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children and young people
  • Patience, resilience, empathy, and adaptability
  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEND, Autism, SEMH, or complex needs
  • A proactive approach and willingness to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Previous experience in a school, care, residential, youth work, coaching, or support setting is desirable but not essential
