Job Title: Sports Coach
Location: Barnsley
Pay: £460–£650 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire branch are inviting applications from Sports Coach to join welcoming schools in Barnsley. We are seeking energetic and enthusiastic individuals who can use sport and physical activity to inspire pupils, promote positive behaviour, and encourage active participation in school life.

The Sports Coach role offers an excellent opportunity to use your coaching experience to support pupils' physical, social, and personal development within an educational setting.

Sports Coach Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging sports sessions that encourage participation and enjoyment
  • Promote teamwork, resilience, and confidence through structured physical activities
  • Adapt coaching sessions to suit pupils with different abilities and needs
  • Support teachers with classroom engagement and positive behaviour where required
  • Encourage healthy lifestyles and active participation throughout the school day
  • Work collaboratively with school staff to create a safe and inclusive environment

Sports Coach Requirements:

  • Experience in sports coaching, physical education, or a related field is desirable
  • Ability to motivate and engage young people through practical activities
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Positive, proactive, and adaptable approach to working with pupils
  • Commitment to promoting participation, wellbeing, and personal development
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
