Job Title: Behaviour Support
Location: Barnsley
Pay: £460–£600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire branch are looking to appoint Behaviour Support for amazing schools in Barnsley. We welcome applications from resilient and compassionate individuals who can build positive relationships with pupils, promote emotional wellbeing, and encourage engagement with learning.

The Behaviour Support role provides a rewarding opportunity to guide pupils through challenges, helping them build confidence, resilience, and positive attitudes towards education.

Behaviour Support Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with behavioural and emotional needs
  • Encourage positive behaviour using consistent and supportive intervention strategies
  • Work alongside teachers and pastoral teams to improve student engagement
  • Support pupils in developing self-regulation, confidence, and social skills
  • Monitor progress and contribute to behaviour support plans where appropriate
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment

Behaviour Support Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with behavioural needs is desirable
  • Good understanding of positive behaviour management techniques
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in challenging situations
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Commitment to promoting inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
