Job Title: SEMH Teacher
Location: Sheffield
Pay: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire branch are seeking SEMH Teachers to join specialist and inclusive schools in Sheffield. We welcome applications from dedicated educators who can deliver engaging lessons, build positive relationships, and create a nurturing environment that enables pupils with SEMH needs to succeed both academically and personally.
The SEMH Teacher is going to transform young people's educational experiences through tailored teaching, encouragement, and consistent pastoral support.
SEMH Teacher Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with SEMH needs
- Foster a supportive classroom environment that promotes emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour
- Develop individual learning strategies to help pupils achieve their academic goals
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams, parents, and external professionals
- Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching approaches to maximise engagement and achievement
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, behaviour management, and inclusive practice
SEMH Teacher Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
- Previous experience teaching pupils with SEMH or additional needs is desirable
- Strong understanding of behaviour management and trauma-informed practice
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Excellent communication, resilience, and classroom management skills
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
