Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Rotherham
Pay: £460–£600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire branch are seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a welcoming school in Rotherham. We are interested in hearing from a patient and dedicated person who can provide personalised support, encourage positive learning experiences, and help students overcome barriers to education.

The Special Educational Needs TA role offers the opportunity to make a lasting difference by supporting students' academic progress, wellbeing, and personal development.

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored one-to-one and small-group support based on individual learning needs
  • Encourage students to develop confidence, independence, and positive learning habits
  • Adapt learning activities to help students fully participate in classroom lessons
  • Work alongside teachers to implement individual support and behaviour strategies
  • Monitor student progress and share observations with the wider education team
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment throughout the school day

SEN TA Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs is advantageous
  • Good understanding of inclusive learning and individual support strategies
  • Ability to remain patient, flexible, and calm in different classroom situations
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships
  • Genuine commitment to supporting students' learning, wellbeing, and development
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
