Job Title: SEN Support Assistant
Location: Durham
Pay: £475–£557 per week (depending on experience)

Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education Newcastle branch are inviting applications from SEN Support Assistant to work in inclusive schools in Durham. We welcome individuals who are patient, compassionate, and committed to providing tailored support that enables pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to thrive both academically and personally.
The SEN Support Assistant is going to work closely with pupils, helping them build confidence, develop independence, and make meaningful progress in a supportive educational environment.
SEN Support Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support tailored to pupils' individual learning needs
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive classroom activities
- Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours
- Support the implementation of individual education and behaviour plans
- Work alongside teaching staff, parents, and external professionals to promote pupil progress
- Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
SEN Support Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable
- Good understanding of inclusive education and positive behaviour support strategies
- Ability to adapt your approach to meet a variety of learning and communication needs
- Calm, resilient, and caring approach when working with pupils requiring additional support
- Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to pupil wellbeing
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
