Salary Scale: £92 – £110 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently searching for a Behaviour Support Assistant to work across a range of supportive and inclusive secondary schools in Scarborough. We are looking for a patient, proactive, and dedicated support professional who can build positive relationships with students, encourage positive behaviour, and help create a safe and engaging learning environment.

Behaviour Support Assistant Role:

The successful Behaviour Support Assistant will work closely with teaching and pastoral teams to support students who require additional behavioural and emotional guidance. We are looking to recruit a Behaviour Support Assistant who is confident working with young people facing behavioural, social, or emotional challenges and can promote positive attitudes towards learning and personal development.

Behaviour Support Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with behavioural, social, or emotional needs
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage students to engage effectively in lessons
  • Support teachers in managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a productive learning environment
  • Build positive relationships with students, acting as a consistent and supportive role model
  • Monitor student progress and report behavioural or wellbeing concerns to relevant staff
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and parents to support positive student outcomes

Behaviour Support Assistant Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, mentoring, or a similar setting is desirable
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach when supporting students with additional needs
  • A genuine commitment to promoting inclusion, wellbeing, and student development
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
