Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time, Full-Time
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary Scale: £92 – £110 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull branch are currently recruiting for a compassionate, dedicated, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to work across supportive educational settings in Scarborough and the surrounding areas.
This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will play a key role in helping learners overcome barriers to education, build confidence, and achieve their full potential through tailored support.
About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with a range of additional learning needs. Working closely with teachers and SEND professionals, you will help adapt learning activities, encourage independence, and create a positive environment where every learner feels valued and supported.
Core Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support for students with SEND
- Support learners in accessing lessons and achieving their individual learning goals
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and independence throughout the school day
- Implement individual education and behaviour support strategies as directed
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and wider support staff to meet student needs
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
As the Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant, You Should Have:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND in an educational or care setting
- Understanding of a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language difficulties
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting learners
- Ability to build positive relationships and work effectively as part of a team
- A genuine commitment to helping every student reach their full potential
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
- Have recent experience working with children or young people
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
