Contract Type: Temporary, Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary Scale: £32,916 – £51,048 per annum (MPS/UPS)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking an English Teacher to work across a range of forward-thinking secondary schools in Scarborough. We are looking for a passionate, creative, and committed educator who can deliver engaging English lessons, foster a love of reading and writing, and support students in achieving their full academic potential.
English Teacher Role:
The successful English Teacher will deliver high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students develop their reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills. We are looking to recruit an English Teacher who can create an engaging and inclusive learning environment, inspire learners of all abilities, and contribute positively to the wider school community.
English Teacher Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Develop students' reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills through creative teaching
- Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback
- Differentiate learning to support students of varying abilities and learning needs
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to promote high standards of teaching and learning
English Teacher Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
- Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting
- Strong classroom management and effective communication skills
- A passion for English language, literature, and student achievement
- Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to deliver engaging lessons
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
