Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary Scale: £102 – £120 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull branch are currently recruiting for a confident, adaptable, and motivated Cover Supervisor to work across supportive secondary schools in Scarborough and the surrounding areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced teaching assistants, or individuals looking to gain practical classroom experience. As a Cover Supervisor, you will play an important role in ensuring continuity of learning by supervising lessons during the short-term absence of teaching staff and maintaining a positive learning environment.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes using pre-prepared lesson materials, ensuring students remain engaged and focused throughout the lesson. You will promote positive behaviour, encourage participation, and help maintain a calm and productive classroom environment.
This role does not involve planning lessons or marking work, making it an ideal opportunity for those looking to build experience within secondary education.
Core Responsibilities of the Cover Supervisor:
- Supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff using pre-prepared lesson materials
- Maintain positive behaviour and ensure students remain engaged with their learning
- Provide clear instructions and support students in completing classroom activities
- Record attendance and provide feedback to teaching staff on lesson outcomes
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
- Follow school policies, including safeguarding and behaviour procedures
As the Ideal Cover Supervisor, You Should Have:
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational, coaching, mentoring, or youth work setting
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Confidence managing groups of students and promoting positive behaviour
- A flexible, proactive, and professional approach to supporting learning
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to adapt to different classroom environments
- A genuine interest in education and supporting young people's development
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Provide an up-to-date CV with relevant reference information covering the last 2 years
- Have recent experience working with children or young people
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
