Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Salary Scale: £92 – £110 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to work within a high-achieving secondary school in York. We are looking for an organised, enthusiastic, and committed support professional who is passionate about helping students succeed, building positive relationships, and contributing to a supportive and inclusive school environment.
Teaching Assistant Role:
The successful Teaching Assistant will work alongside teaching and pastoral staff to provide effective classroom support, helping students to engage with learning and achieve their full potential. We are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant who is confident working with young people, demonstrates excellent communication skills, and can act as a positive role model within the school community.
Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Support teachers in delivering engaging lessons and effective classroom activities
- Provide individual and small group support to help students achieve academically and personally
- Build positive relationships with students, staff, and the wider school community
- Assist with the preparation of learning resources and the organisation of classroom activities
- Promote a safe learning environment by following safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support student progress and wellbeing
Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational setting is desirable
- Good IT skills, with a high standard of numeracy and literacy
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
- An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply
